SPC-809 is a wax and grease remover specifically designed for aerospace applications. It can be used safely on aluminum, mild steel, high strength steel and titanium when used as directed. 809 complies with Boeing D6-17487 Rev P and AMS 1526C. With no ozone depleting contents, toxic solvents or caustics, SPC-801 is user and environment friendly.
SPC-809 can be applied onto many different substrates but perform a compatibility test by spraying on an inconspicuous area before applying to plastic, rubber or other sensitive materials.

SPC-809 is designed to minimize health and environmental risks. It is non carcinogenic and contains no toxic elements. It also reduces the amount of hazardous waste generated. Avoid direct contact of the product with skin. Wear chemical splash goggles, rubber boots and gloves. Areas in direct contact with product including clothing should be washed thoroughly with water. Product may cause slight eye irritation and harmful if swallowed. Read label and MSDS before use.
RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE AND DIRECTION FOR USE
When applied to the surface, SPC-809 breaks the bond between the solid substrate and the residues. Sometimes, when working with multiple layers or combinations of various residues, re-application of SPC-809 may be required.
When brushing or spraying coverage of less than 1 litre per square meter of surface is possible. Where there is thick build-up of grease and oil additional product may be required. Dipping methods vary depending on substrates porosity. Soft timbers for example should not be left to soak in SPC- 809 as water ingress may damage or require long drying periods. Long contact with rubber and plastic is not advised as irreversible softening may occur.

When brushing or spraying all areas not being cleaned that are in close proximity to the application surface should be masked and protected with polythene. It is important that a strong ground sheet be used to contain waste and rinse water. Waste must be tested and treated if necessary before disposal. The use of non-absorbent masking tape is advised when dipping. All surfaces including rubber and plastic should be taped or enclosed by polythene.
Ambient and surface temperatures will have an impact on the removal process. 809 is more effective in warm temperatures. Optimum results are achieved with temperatures in the 10-40 °C range. It is not recommended that 809 be applied when temperatures are below 0 °C as performance will be hindered. Dipping tanks should be covered but not sealed. Tentage is required when applying outdoors to eliminate effects from wind and rain. Good ventilation should be provided to confined areas.
When applying by BRUSH or ROLLER it is important to use a soft medium and apply generously to ensure an even and adequate coverage. For best results use airless SPRAY equipment. Chemical resistant piston pumps larger than 2 hp or capable of above 2000 psi should be used.

A plastic (HDPE) or metal scraper should be used for removal prior to water rinsing. Vacuum scrapers are useful tools that reduce clean-up time and aid in coating removal. Size and power of industrial vacuum is dependent on job size and budget. High-pressure wash and steam cleaners increase removal rates and reduce water usage. Above 2000 psi pressure is advised for large areas and it is important to thoroughly wash steel substrates to ensure removal of any alkaline salts. DIP tanks should be made from PP, PE or HDPE
Optimum results are obtained by allowing sufficient dwell time. It is advised to complete a small test patch to establish proper dwell time. Light or softer residues can take a few minutes upwards to 2 hours for thicker/heavier residues. Thicker or aged (harder) residues may require re-application of the solvent prior to full removal as they can have the tendency to absorb the solvent. In these cases, re-apply the product.
Thorough or pressurized rinsing will remove all paint and product from the surface. Prior to painting the surface must be completely dry. Paint manufacturer’s guideline should be adhered to for required surface preparation.
HANDLING AND DISPOSAL
All containers are HDPE and can be punctured or split if not handled with appropriate care. Pails and drums must be secured during transportation to prevent damage. Lids, cap and closures must be tightened when products are being transported. Neutralizing and dilution with water will be required to meet local waste or sewage disposal requirement. Seek advice on local authority requirements before disposal. Spills should be contained and disposed under the same requirements.
SPC-809 should be stored in a cool dry environment. Extended storage at temperatures exceeding 35°C is not advised and may reduce the products efficacy. All containers must be sealed properly when stored. DO NOT store with oxidizers, acids, reducing agents or combustible material.
